Tonsley railway station is a railway station on the AdelaideMetro train network. It is the southern terminus of the Tonsley railway line, and is located in the southwestern Adelaide suburb of Mitchell Park. It is located 13.0 km by railway from the Adelaide Railway Station.
Trains used to operate between 7am and 7pm on Monday-Friday, with no weekend service, but currently the line is closed. It was due to reopen in late 2013.[1][2][3][4] However, in 2013 a plan was announced to build a second track along its length. This was to be funded through joint State and Federal initiatives, but the incoming Federal Liberal government announced that they would be changing focus to roads, and pulled the funding. Accordingly, the future of the line is unclear, with $18 million spent on the project.[5]
