Tomasz Wałdoch (Polish pronunciation: [ˈtɔmaʂ ˈvawdɔx]) (born 10 May 1971 in Gdańsk) is a retired Polish footballer. He holds German citizenship.[citation needed]
He had a 10-year International career and 74 caps where he often captained the side (including at the 2002 World Cup). His club career was mostly spent in Germany with VfL Bochum and FC Schalke 04. In April 2010 he was appointed Director of Sport by his first professional club [Górnik Zabrze].[1]

Waldoch has played for [Górnik Zabrze], VfL Bochum, Schalke and Jagiellonia Białystok.
International career
He played for the Polish national team, for which he earned 74 caps. Wałdoch was a participant at the 1992 Summer Olympics, where Poland won the silver medal,[2] and was the captain of the Polish team for the 2002 World Cup.

Coaching career
On 1 July 2006 was named as the new Assistant Coach of FC Schalke 04 U-17 Youth[3] and on 15 April 2008 till 30 June 2008 he was the Assistant Coach at FC Schalke 04 II.[4] On 11 November 2009 it was announced that Waldoch would become the temporary Assistant coach of Poland national football team, assisting Franciszek Smuda.[5] He has since been replaced in the role by his former teammate Jacek Zielinski.[6] On 20 April 2010 was named as the new Director of Sport by his first professional club Górnik Zabrze.[7] Since May 2011 Wałdoch has been the coach at FC Schalke 04 U-17.
Personal life
Tomasz Wałdoch is married and has four children - two sons and two daughters. His son Kamil (born July 4th 1992) currently plays at ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen.[8]
