Tom Schaar (born September of 1999) is an American amateur skateboarder. Schaar was the youngest skateboarder to successfully land a "900" (2.5 revolutions in the air), the first skateboarder to land a "1080" (3 revolutions), and the youngest ever X Games gold medalist.
Career
900
In October 2011, Schaar became the 8th person in history, and the youngest, to land a 900.[1]
1080
In 2006, skateboarder and snowboarder Shaun White unsuccessfully attempted the 1080 on 21 occasions at that years X Games and 29 occasions the year before. It had previously been considered the, "Holy Grail of skateboarding tricks". At age 6, Schaar had watched White's 2006 attempts from the stands.[2]
In March 2012, at the age of 12, Schaar landed the first 1080 on a skateboard after four previous (unsuccessful) attempts.[3] Schaar commented to ESPN.com, "It was the hardest trick I've ever done, but it was easier than I thought."[4]
At the Asian X Games, he won skate Mini Mega by landing the 1080,[5][6] and became the youngest ever to win an X Games gold medal at the age of 12.

Media appearances
On July 5, 2012, he appeared on an episode of Figure It Out, and ended up winning the grand prize. He also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for an interview with the host Ellen DeGeneres.[8]
Personal life
In June 2013, Schaar stated that he surfs when he is not skateboarding and purchases surfboards with the money that he earns.[7]
