Tom Hern(born December 12, 1984) is an actor and film producer from Christchurch, New Zealand. He is best known to global audiences for his role as Ram in The Tribe and Devin Del Valle in the 2004 television show Power Rangers: Dino Thunder. Hern also appeared in Shortland Street, Revelations, Interrogation, Maddigan's Quest, as well as in many smaller acting and presenting roles. His filmography also includes various TV and radio commercials and voiceovers.

More recently, Hern's predominant output has been behind the camera, as an award-winning independent film producer.

Thomas Hern was born in Christchurch, New Zealand on 10 December 1984. He has two older brothers and an older sister.

To his friends (and fans) Tom is also known by the name of Herndog, a long-time nickname of his.

Between 2006 and 2007, Tom appeared on the long-running South Pacific Pictures New Zealand television series "Shortland Street" as Baxter Cormack.

Hern continues to work on musical side-projects, Theodore High, with Latham Gaines (who starred alongside Tom in Power Rangers: Dino Thunder as Anton Mercer) and rock-hop band The Drop D's.

Recent work

In 2008/09, Hern produced his debut feature film, 'I'm Not Harry Jenson,' with long time friend James Napier who also starred in "The Tribe."

The film was released throughout New Zealand in 2010 to strong reviews through Rialto and was represented for international sales by Media Luna New Films in Germany [1] I'm Not Harry Jenson also played at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

Hern is a co-founder and managing director of Four Knights Film Ltd along with partners James Napier and Tim and Sasha Wood. Hern produced the short film, Lambs, in 2011. Lambs premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and screened in competition at the Clermont Ferrand, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand International film festivals (the film also won both major awards at the 2012 New Zealand International Film Festival - The People's Choice Award and The Grand Jury Prize for short films). Hern and Four Knights' have two feature films slated for release in 2014; 'Genesis,' starring Cliff Curtis and James Rolleston to be directed by James Napier Robertson, and 'Everything We Loved,' an arthouse drama by Max Currie (which had its World Premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2014).
