Thomas Michael "Tom" Eastman (born 21 October 1991) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Colchester United.

Career

Ipswich Town

Eastman started playing football at the age of eight for his local team, Weeley, in Essex. He was picked up by Ipswich at the age of nine came through the youth system before being offered a professional contract by manager Roy Keane. His debut came in a 3–0 defeat to Sheffield United – a game which Keane gave a number of debuts to youth players.[3] Eastman was also sent-off by referee Andy D'Urso on his debut for two bookable offences. He was given the number 23 shirt for the 2010–11 season. Eastman was one of only two players to be offered a professional contract after going through Ipswich's youth system. In April 2011 he was offered an initial six-month contract extension by the club.[4]

Colchester United

After rejecting the offer of a new contract with Ipswich, he signed a two-year deal with League One side Colchester United. On 13 September 2011, Crawley Town signed Eastman on an emergency loan.[5] He returned to his parent club on 19 October 2011 after making six appearances for Crawley.[6]

Eastman signed a contract extension with the U's until summer 2015 on 31 January 2013 after establishing himself as a first-team regular.[7] He scored in Colchester's final game of the 2012–13 season during a 2–0 win at Carlisle United, the second goal of the game from a David Wright cross, helping Colchester to League One safety.[8]
