Tolmie is a small rural town in north-eastern Victoria, Australia. It is located 22 kilometres (14 mi) north-east of Mansfield. At the 2006 census, Tolmie had a population of 578.[1]
The Post Office opened on 1 February 1877 as Wombat, was renamed Tolmie in 1879, and closed in 1971 .[2]
Tolmie holds an annual community event, known as Tolmie Sports, in February.
Much of the heavily forested countryside surrounding Tolmie was devastated by bushfires in 2006/07.
Tolmie once had a general store/ petrol station that is currently closed.
It also has the Tolmie Tavern/Hotel which serves food and drinks.
