Tokyngton commonly known as 'Monks Park' is a suburb located in northwest London, UK, and is part of the London Borough of Brent and the Wembley post town. Tokyngton means "the farm of the sons of Toca". [1]

Location

Tokyngton is situated roughly north of the A406 North Circular Road, and south of the suburb of Wembley. It mostly consists of Edwardian terraces and 1930s semi-detached housing. The roughly north-south A404 Harrow Road runs through the area, and the Chiltern Main Line is to the east, and the West Coast Main Line to the west.

To the north-east is Wembley Stadium station, on the Chiltern Line that runs to Marylebone station in central London.

To the south-west is Stonebridge Park station, on the Watford DC Line of the West Coast Main Line from Euston station. Northbound London Underground Bakerloo line trains join these tracks further south at Queen's Park station, and a large Bakerloo line maintenance depot was built in the 1980s at Tokyngton. As a result, many northbound London Underground trains terminate at Stonebridge Park, and there is a small cabin on the northbound platform for Underground staff to sit in, between detraining passengers and closing the carriage doors.

The Chiltern and West Coast lines are not parallel (the former crosses the latter in north Wembley) so the geographical descriptions above are only approximate.

On Monks park there is Tokynton Library which been closed.

Sport & Leisure

Tokyngton has a Non-League football team Tokyngton Manor F.C. who play at Spratleys Meadow.
