Tobuscus Adventures: Wizards is an upcoming role-playing game video game based on the popular YouTube series Tobuscus Adventures created by and starring Toby Turner. The game is due for release on iOS and Android devices, as well as on Microsoft Windows through Steam. The game, which officially began being developed some time after completing the end of the campaign on the crowdfunding website Indiegogo,[2] will feature the three main characters of Tobuscus Adventures (Tobuscus, played by Turner; Gabuscus, played by Gabe Hohreiter; and Gryphon, Turner's dog) as they fight hordes of zombies to reach the Wizard of Darkness.[2][3] The Indiegogo campaign earned $644,082 in donations and was able to reach all of the goals set by Turner.[2]

Gameplay

In Tobuscus Adventures: Wizards!, the player collects different pages of a spellbook. Each page contains a different symbol that the player must learn how to draw (using the touch controls on mobile devices and the mouse on PC). After the symbol is drawn, the player must select the battlefield to cast the spell, or if it's a spell such as "firewall", the player must draw where the wall will begin and end.[1] The game will include approximately 20-30 levels, animated cut scenes, and an HD version for iPad.[1] Recently, a video announcement revealed that the game will also be available on Steam. In addition, there will be a minigame included, in which Turner's dog, Gryphon, serves the protagonist.

Indiegogo fundraiser

On May 21, 2013, Toby Turner started a fundraiser on crowdfunding website Indiegogo, explaining that he wished for $240,000 to create Tobuscus Adventures: Wizards!. The fundraiser reached $100,000 within the first day alone, and surpassed the $240,000 goal within 48 hours.[4] After surpassing his goal, Turner announced that if the fundraiser received over $340,000, that an extra five animated episodes of Tobuscus Adventures would be produced and released.[2][5] After this goal was reached, Turner set a new goal of $450,000 that, if surpassed, will include a mini-game featuring Wizard Gryphon as a playable character, with his own exclusive spells and cut scenes.[2][6] Once he had raised over $450,000 he set a new goal of $550,000 if raised the game will also be compatible with steam. After reaching this goal, Turner added a new stretch goal, being upgrades for gameplay, set for $620,000. This goal was reached, with a final donation amount of $644,027.

A feature of Indiegogo are "perks", in which funders of a campaign receive certain extra items related to the campaign depending on the amount of money that they donate.[7] Some of the perks that Turner included as part of his fundraiser include a PC beta version of the game, exclusive posters, t-shirts, access to see the game in development, a coloring book, a zombie designed by a contributor's appearance, a producer or executive producer credit in the game, an invite to the launch party of the game in Los Angeles and a trip to space which nobody claimed at $400,000.[2][8] About a fortnight before the campaign finished Turner brought the perk prices down 20%. [9]On December 12, 2013, Turner released the 7th episode of Tobuscus Adventures. In the episode, Tobuscus wore a robe that he'll use in the game.
