Toano Middle School is a public school located in Toano, Virginia. Toano's mascot is the tiger. It is part of the Williamsburg-James City County Public School system. It offers core classes such as math, science,history,and English as well as foreign languages, Physical Education, music and art. The curriculum is designed to help students begin to adjust to high school life. Students from Toano Middle School usually feed into Lafayette High School or Warhill High School.Toano Middle School also offers the AVID( Advancement Via Individual Determination) Courses and VISIONS( Advanced Classes) for students as well as advanced Math Placement.
Sports
Toano Middle School offers some sports, including: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Football, baseball, Softball, Field Hockey,cheerleading and volleyball. Toano also offers end of the year flag football sport.
Uniforms
In 2000, there was a uniform plan in hold for the students of the following year. In 2001, students were required to wear a simple uniform of polo's, light blue and white button downs, khaki or navy bottoms( skirts, skorts, pants, capri pants,and knee length shorts)and white or navy sweaters or light jackets. On Friday's, students are allowed to wear denim jeans, and well as spirit T-Shirts. On an occasional time, students are allowed to dress-down, usually a promotion for donations. They can usually dress down two times a year, the middle and the end of the year.
Eighth Grade Students
8th grade students usually have more privileges over the lower grades. They are located on the bottom floor, symbolizing them ALMOST over with middle school. At the end of the year a Moving Up ceremony is held for them, in which they can leave school early that day. At the ceremony, awards are usually given to students.
