Timothy J. Rebowe (born February 25, 1963) is an American football coach at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He is currently an assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette. He currently serves as the safeties coach and previously coached linebackers from 2008-2010.[1] He previously served as the interim head football coach at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Nicholls State
Rebowe was hired as an assistant football coach at Nicholls State University in March 1995. He had previously been the head football coach at Destrehan High School.[2] Rebowe was defensive backs coach at Nicholls State from 1995-1999 and wide receivers coach in 2000. He was also named acting head coach in 1999.[3] While coaching defensive backs and wide receivers, he also served as special teams coach (1995-1998) and recruiting coordinator (1999-2000). In 1996, he coached defensive backs Reggie Davis and Demetrius Patterson to All-Southland Conference honors along with Kyle Leisher in 1998. In 1996, he helped lead Nicholls State to its first playoff appearance in a decade and completed one of the greatest one-year turnarounds in Division 1-AA history. That year as defensive backs coach, Rebowe lead the Colonels defense to a number seven national ranking in passing efficiency defense in Division 1-AA.
Rebowe resigned his position at Nicholls State in January 2001.[4][5]
Louisiana-Monroe
Rebowe coached cornerbacks at the University of Louisiana-Monroe from 2001-2003 and served as interim head coach in 2003 after being picked to lead the football team over other assistant coaches.[6][7][8][9] During his time at ULM, Rebowe coached Chris Harris who was a 2010 Pro Bowl selection with the Chicago Bears.
Louisiana-Lafayette
In April 2003, Rebowe was hired as an assistant coach at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.[10][11] As safeties coach in 2004, Rebowe coached the Ragin Cajuns' pass defense to a number 11 national ranking in passing yards allowed in Division I football.[1] Both safeties he coached moved on to the NFL. Strong safety C.C. Brown was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2005 NFL Draft and free safety Antwain Spain signed with the New York Giants and played for the New England Patriots and in NFL Europe. In 2005, the Ragin Cajuns' pass defense was ranked 23rd nationally, allowing only 190 yards per game.[1] As linebackers coach (2008-2010), Rebowe coached players led the team in tackles for three years straight. In 2008-2009, Antwyne Zanders and Grant Fleming were named All-Sun Belt Conference. He returned to coach safeties starting in 2011.[12] University of Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Mark Hudspeth said in a November 2011 news article, "Tim Rebowe, I think, is the best recruiter in the state of Louisiana."[13][14]
High school coach
Rebowe also has experience coaching at the high school level. He was an assistant coach and head football coach at Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana from 1987-1994.[15][16][17] As head coach, Rebowe's teams compiled a 26-11 record.[1] He led Destrehan High School to the 1993 LHSAA Louisiana Class 5A State Championship game with a 12-3 record. Rebowe coached NFL players Rondell Mealey (Green Bay Packers) and Ed Reed (Baltimore Ravens).
Early life
Rebowe is an alumnus of Louisiana State University (LSU), having received a bachelor of science in physical education in 1987.[1] He attended high school at Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana.
