Tim McMillan is a Canadian politician. He was elected to represent the electoral district of Lloydminster[1] in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in the 2007 election and the 2011 election. He is a member of the Saskatchewan Party.

Biography

Early life

Tim McMillan grew up on his family farm, 20 miles east of Lloydminster, where the McMillan family homesteaded more than 100 years ago.

Tim attended the University of Victoria where he received a degree in Economics. After his schooling, Tim traveled and worked abroad extensively. His travels have taken him from hiking to the Mount Everest Base Camp to diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Tim is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and spent a year contracting as an IT professional in London, England. He then returned to his family farm to establish a business and raise his family. Prior to his election in 2007, Tim operated an Oilfield Service Company.

Political career

In the fall 2009 legislative session, Tim introduced a private members bill to protect the wild ponies of the Bronson Forest, which is in his constituency. The bill is called Bill No. 606, The Protection of the Wild Ponies of the Bronson Forest Act. It received royal assent December 3,2009.[2]

In June 2010, Tim joined the provincial cabinet as Minister Responsible for Crown Investments Corporation, Saskatchewan Government Insurance, Information Services Corporation, and the Information Technology Office. In September 2010, Tim was also appointed as the Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.

In May 2012, Tim was appointed as Minister Responsible for Energy and Resources, Tourism Saskatchewan, Trade and SaskEnergy Incorporated.[3]


He and his wife Ali, have two daughters, Reilly and Gracie.
