Tim Federle is a writer and former Broadway dancer.

Tim's debut novel for kids, Better Nate Than Ever—about a small-town kid who crashes an audition for E.T.: The Musical—was named a New York Times Notable Book of 2013, a Slate Favorite Book of 2013, an Amazon Best Book of 2013, and a Publishers Weekly Best Book of 2013. Five, Six, Seven, Nate!, the forthcoming sequel to Better Nate Than Ever, was named an Amazon Best Book of the Month and received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Kirkus.

Federle's novelty cocktail guide, Tequila Mockingbird: Cocktails with a Literary Twist, won the Goodreads Cookbook of the Year award. And Tim's picture book, Tommy Can't Stop!—about a rambunctious little boy who finally gets out of trouble (and into the spotlight) when he discovers tap dance class—will be published by Disney in 2015. He is currently at work on a new series of books for Simon & Schuster publishing, tentatively entitled Theater Kid Chronicles.

Biography

Federle was born in Foster City, California and was later raised in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, where The Perks of Being a Wallflower author Stephen Chbosky also grew up.[1] Federle made his professional debut at age 12 in a production of Oliver! directed by Rob Marshall. He went on to perform in several Broadway shows before penning his first novel, Better Nate Than Ever.
