Thumbay Group, is a UAE - based diversified group, headquartered in Ajman, with operations in Education, Healthcare, Medical Research, Diagnostics, Wellness, Retail, Publishing, Real Estate, Hospitality, Trading and Distribution. The group is headed by Thumbay Moideen,who is the Founder President.[1] Thumbay Group are the owners of Gulf Medical University and chain of GMC Hospitals.

History

Drawn by the U.A.E’s exponential growth and its investor-friendly policies, Thumbay Moideen initiated a business venture to the Gulf with the launch of Thumbay Group,UAE in 1997. He was the first expatriate to be invited by the Rulers of Ajman to start a medical college in U.A.E., as there was no existing set-up to cater to the needs of the students to pursue higher education in medicine and healthcare sciences in the private sector.[1] Thus, his first venture Gulf Medical University was established which ultimately became a destination for medical education not only for local students, but to students from over 70 countries & staff from 22 different countries.[1][2]

Today

Starting with establishment of his corporate firm, Thumbay Group in 1997, he set up business operations in 13 sectors over the course of 16 years.[1] Today, the Group has developed into a business conglomerate with diversified interests in education, hospitals, medical centres, diagnostic centres, healthclubs, pharmacies, retail outlets, coffee shoppes and nutrition stores spread out across the Emirates.[1][2] The organization employs more than 2200 employees in the UAE. Presently Thumbay Group is listed among the “Top 100 Companies making an impact in the Arab World” by Forbes Middle East.[3]

  1. Gulf Medical University
    The flagship project of Thumbay Group, the University caters to students of 70 nationalities and offers a range of courses in medicine and healthcare ranging from Bachelor's to Masters, from short term to online courses.
  2. GMC Hospitals
    GMC Hospital is the constituent private teaching university hospital of Gulf Medical University. GMC hospitals has the distinction of handling more than 15 deliveries a day, the Outpatient Department (OPD) up to 1200 patients a day and a total of 230,000 patients a year.
  3. GMC Pharmacies
    A chain of 24 hours retail pharmacies providing a wide range of medication to cater to the requirement of all medical, surgical specialities in the region. Branches of GMC pharmacies are located in Ajman, Fujairah and Sharjah.
  4. GMC Diagnostic Laboratories
    A chain of Diagnostic Laboratories to deliver quality reports with precision within a specific time frame to its patients. Branches of GMC Diagnostics are located in Ajman, Fujairah and Sharjah.
  5. Health Communications Division
    The Health Communications Division assists in the delivery of programs (conferences, workshops, symposia and seminars). Started in 1999, the division has conducted more than 218 events, attended by more than 19,000 professionals (as of July 2013)[4]
  6. Body and Soul Health Club & Spas
    An International chain of Health Clubs with branches in Ajman, Sharjah and Dubai - inculcates the spirit of rejuvenation of Body and Mind.
  7. Blends and Brews Coffee Shoppe
    located at Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah is an Chain of Coffee Shoppes provides satisfying and high quality coffee & bites.
  8. The Terrace Restaurant
    A Multi-Cuisine Restaurant catering to authentic multi-culinary experience, while offering varied catering services.
  9. Zo & Mo Opticals
    A chain of optical shops in Ajman and Fujairah offering a wide range of international brands of Opticals and accessories.
  10. Nutri Plus Vita Stores
    A chain of nutrition stores offering international products & accurate counseling under experts’ supervision and guidance.
  11. HEALTH Magazine
    HEALTH magazine is a bi-monthly, bilingual magazine published by Gulf Medical University, focusing on health & lifestyle in the GCC region.
  12. Thumbay Builders
    The construction and real estate arm of Thumbay Group involved in pre-construction, construction implementation, building construction post-construction and project support.
  13. Thumbay Marketing & Trading Distribution Company
    TMDC is involved in trading, marketing and distribution of a wide range of product lines.
