Thongkhosiem Haokip (born 26 August 1993) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Pune F.C. in the I-League.

Career

Early Career

Born in the village of Gangpijang in Manipur, Haokip started his footballing career when he represented his state in the Indian National School Games.[2] He then joined the United Sports Association in Khurai where he stayed for a few years.[2] He then joined the Pune F.C. Academy in 2011 where he played for the academy in the I-League U19 in 2012 and 2013.[2] The Pune Academy where champions in both editions.[3]

Pune

Drafted into the Pune F.C. first-team squad for the 2013–14 I-League season, Haokip made his professional debut for the club on 29 September 2013 against Shillong Lajong at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.[4] He came on as a 81st minute substitute for Velington Rocha as Pune drew the match 0–0.[4] He then scored his first professional goal in the very next match against Mohun Bagan on 10 October 2013 at the Balewadi Sports Complex.[5] He came off the bench for Pune in the 64th minute and then scored the opening goal for the club in the 72nd minute off a header to lead Pune to an eventual 2–0 victory.[5]

Haokip then scored his second goal of the season two months later on 21 December 2013 against Mohun Bagan again but this time on the receiving end of a 3–1 defeat.[6] His goal came in the 79th minute but it was not enough to save Pune from defeat.[6]
