The thistletails {genus Asthenes in part), (formerly genus Schizoeaca) are birds in the family Furnariidae. They are found in highland forest, shrub and grassland in the Andes of South America. They have a mainly brown plumage, and most have grey underparts. All have long tails with pointed tips.
