Thingalnagar is a panchayat town in Kanniyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Thingalnagar had a population of 12,554. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Thingalnagar has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 76%. In Thingalnagar, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. ThingalNagar is a small settlement in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. Sprawling over an area of around three km2, it is bounded in the north Thalakkulam and in the east by Villukuri. ThingalNagar is around 50 km from Thiruvananthapuram and 6 km from Colachel Port. Kanyakumari, southern- most tip of India, is nearly 20 km from the town. Nearby tourist destinations include Padmanabhapuram Palace (5 km), Sanguthurai Beach, Manavalakurichi (7 km), Muttom and Nagercoil (15 km). The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport, 51 km away. Nearest railway station is Eraniel Railway Station serves the town. ThingaNager can be approached by road from Nagercoil, Muttam and colachel Thingal nager is one of the best town of the Kanniyakumari Dist.During the Mandaikadu Temple festival, Thigal Nagar will be the main business center for the devotees.Initially it was called Monday market.Thingal Nagar has a very popular Monday market, a garden constructed in memory of Marshall Nesamony and many facilities for shopping.
