Thimmanahalli is a village in Chikkanayakanahalli, a town in Tumkur District,It is Three & a half hour drive from Bangalore in Karnataka, India. Its estimated population is about 5500-6000, Most of the villagers have now turned into the agriculturist.Thimmanahalli is also known as Kaayi Thimmanahalli

History and naming

In 18th century,Thimmarasu Nayaka built fort at the site & established it as a province of the empire. The remnants of Fort could be found adjacent to Bandi-Mane near Eshwar Temple.The prime crops that are grown in Thimmanahalli are coconut's, Araca nut, paddy & ragi. It is famous for Coconut's. Hence the name Kaayi Thimmanahalli.

Education

There are three schools in our village.

  • The governament school from first to seventh standard for primary education.
  • Students from Kindergarten to seventh grades can also attend Priyadarshini Primary School, established in 1985.
  • Sri Sharadha Vidyapeetha high school and college, was founded in 1970 and is the only source of higher education for the residents of Thimmanahalli.

All of these educational institutions are recognized by the government of Karnataka. Others living in Siddanakatte, Ramanahalli, Hanumanthanahalli, Badakegudlu, and Kandikere, also benefited from these schools. Also These schools take a part in celebration of national days like, Independence day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanthi etc... The residents of Thimmanahalli are primarily Hindu, Muslim, and Christian and the village is home to Temples, a Mosque and a Church.

Getting there: Since the Bangalore - Pune/Mumbai National Highway No: 4 passes through Sira Town, the best way to get there is to drive down from Bangalore city (about one & a half hrs drive). Sira is about 50 km away from Tumkur City and about 120 km from Bangalore. From Sira to Bukkapatna, Bellara, Thimmanahalli. or Take the Bangalore - Shivamogga route, in the middle Tumkur, Gubbi, Nittur, K.B.Cross, in K.B.Cross take a diversion towards Chikkanayakanahalli from chikkanayakanahalli its 18 km to Thimmanahalli. From Bangalore to Thimmanahalli it is just 152 km.
