The Pegs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Harpur Harpeggios, more commonly referred to as The Pegs, are the only all female a cappella group at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. Founded in 1983, the group was previously believed to have started as a co-ed group, along with the Binghamton Crosbys, but recent research dispels these rumors. The Pegs go on an annual Winter Tour, performing at elementary, middle, and high schools in the New York area. In addition to performing at local gigs around the campus, the Pegs also have one big show per semester. The Pegs turn 30 in the Spring of 2013.

They have competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) four times. In 2005, they advanced to the Semifinals held at Yale University, at which they placed third. Other previous awards given at the ICCA include: Best Choreography (2001), Biggest Ham (Sarah Williams, 2003), Best Soloist (Theresa Lee, My Immortal, 2005), and Outstanding Arrangement (Sarah Williams, Frozen, 2005).
