The Overload

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Overload is an electronic dance music (EDM) radio show hosted by Niagara Falls DJ and producer - Taylor D.

The Overload started in the summer of 2009 on Niagara Falls radio station CKEY FM (branded Z101 on 101.1 fm). The show ran Friday nights from 2 am to 4 am, and repeated Saturday nights from midnight to 2 am. Originally it was a nameless - Top 40/Club edit - generic mixshow, to match the station's contemporary hit radio format. As time went on and its fan-base grew, the show took a turn to the more underground and pure forms of EDM. By November 2009 the show was dubbed "The Overload".

In November 2009, the Saturday night repeat was cancelled.

The Overload, at the time of its naming, was a two-hour program. The first hour featured house and electro music, and the second hour featured progressive house and trance music. The show continued under this format from the November of 2009 to June 2011.

In June 2011, CKEY FM was purchased by Haliburton Broadcasting Group. Management wanted to create a fresh start for the station and The Overload was cancelled. At this point, The Overload became an online podcast, available to the public on Taylor D's Mixcloud page. It also went from a two-hour show down to one hour of progressive house and trance music.

In December 2011, after five months off the air, Z101 decided The Overload was to make a comeback. Taylor D started a new mixshow on Friday nights at midnight featuring the Top 40/Club Edit style; and The Overload followed at 1 am with the progressive and trance format.

Since returning to Z101, The Overload has grown in the EDM scene, now receiving support from over 250 record labels from across the world. More information can be found at www.dj-taylor-d.com
