The Monarchs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Monarchs are an American doo-wop band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 1961. They are known mainly by their #47 1964 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Look Homeward Angel",[1][2] which also reached #1 on local and regional charts. Previous to this hit, they recorded "This Old Heart" by James Brown, which topped local charts.

By 1967, The Monarchs began to lose members, but with varied lineups the band has performed ever since. Former Louisville mayor Jerry Abramson called them "Louisville's Musical Ambassadors".
