The Chakras are a five piece Irish alternative rock band from Dublin, based in London. The band was formed in 2006 and began with an early show supporting Ian Brown in Dublin.

Led by brothers Rocky and Gordo Whittaker, The Chakras were intent on writing music that elicited some sort of reaction. Inspired by The Verve and Jesus and Mary Chain, the band members dedicated themselves to their task, finishing long-standing relationships, resigning from jobs, and moving to London.

Since their first single on limited 7”, "Build Me A Swan" (2010), The Chakras’ work with the producer Jaz Rogers and the mixer Chris Potter (Urban Hymns) has given the band freedom and a license to develop their influence, without hiding the melodies behind too much unnecessary noise. As friends who trust each other’s judgment, The Chakras also trusted Potter’s experience, and "Build Me A Swan" is a telling first band statement.

In early 2011, the group signed to Planet Function Records, an indie offshoot of the R&S label.

"Build Me A Swan" weaves incessantly with a bass-heavy groove. "Slowdive" is a friendly ballad, in stark contrast to "We The People" with its call to arms and psychedelic guitar licks.

The Chakras first album, Build Me A Swan, was due to be released in 2011.
