Thanchi (Bengali: থানচি) is an Upazila of Bandarban District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh.

Geography

Thanchi is located at 21°47′10″N 92°25′40″E / 21.7861°N 92.4278°E / 21.7861; 92.4278 . It has 2885 units of house hold and total area 1020.82 km².

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Thanchi has a population of 16104. Males constitute 55.61% of the population, and females 44.39%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 8639. Thanchi has an average literacy rate of 17.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[1]
