Thakar Rajputs

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thakar are a branch of Rajput sulehria and Charan caste found in Rajasthan, sialkot Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab States of India.[1][2][3] Herbols, Thadwal, Indaruias, Nangles, Gumbaris, Ranes, Banials, Ranats, Mailes are some of the sub-clans among the community.[1] Other names for Thakar Rajputs are Rajihans, Rajkumar or Rajshahi.[2]

They marry their daughters to Mian Rajputs and take daughters from Rathis.[1] However, they consider themselves to be above Rathis. Mian Rajputs as said before take the daughters from Thakar Rajput but not from Rathi Rajput, as such, Thakar consider it to be an insult, if they are clubbed with Rathi.[1]
