Tetragonopterus is a genus of characins from South America. The six currently described species in this genus are:[1][2]

"In press" indicates, while the species description has been published, it has been in an on-line format which is not considered to fulfill the requirements for publishing as per Article 8.5 of the ICZN. Once the description is released in a print version, the actual year of description will be added.
The species referred to as Tetragonopterus rufipes Valenciennes, 1834 is considered a species inquirenda within Characidae.
