Tengnoupal is a town in Chandel district, Manipur, India.[1]

Location

National Highway 39 passes through Tengnoupal. It is 69 km from Imphal. Nearest airport is Imphal Airport. It is the highest point above sea-level on the Imphal-Moreh Highway.

People: It is a Mate village inhabited mainly by the Mate-Kuki indigenous people. They speak Thadou-Kuki and are hospitable and warm by nature though they are living under poverty due to suppression and discrimination by the Meitei people. A small fraction of the Mate's who live in Churachandpur Town are under the influence of the Teddim people who are political refugees from Myanmar.

It is an ideal place for tacking and there is increasing inflow of tourist every seasons. During monsoon the place is foggy and makes it the best place for romance. Since Tengoupal is situated on the top most range of the Indo-Myanmar region one could view the beautiful sceneries of hills and the vast lusty plains of Kabaw-Valley of Myanmar. Besides, during summer the cold wins sweep the hills of Tengnoupal which makes this place the most sought after for summer recreation for families.
