Tenali Junction Railway station, located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, serves Tenali in Guntur district. It is a major junction station with branch lines to New Guntur and Repalle. The latter connects the Krshna delta to the main line.
History
The Vijayawada-Chennai link was established in 1899.[1]
The Tenali-Repalle branch line, constructed by Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, was opened in 1916.[2][3]
The Vijaywada-Chirala section was electrified in 1979-80.[4]
Station category
Tenali is one of the fourteen ‘A’ category stations and one of the five adarsh stations in the Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway. [5]
