Tehsils of India

Tehsil is an administrative divisions of India denoting a sub-district. Tehsils are also referred to as "talukas" or "mandal" in some states. Tehsils can consist of multiple villages and a few towns. The Panchayat samitis are usually the administrative governing bodies of the tehsils.
