Tarumã is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. The population in 2010 was 12,883 and the area is 303.503 square kilometres (117.183 sq mi). The elevation is 509 metres (1,670 ft). Its economy is mainly based on agriculture.
In 2010, it occupied the 20th place in the ranking of the 100 best cities to live in Brazil and the placement of 19 best cities in the state of São Paulo, according to the Municipal Development Index Firjan.

Tarumã (Vitex montevidensis) is a fruit-bearing hardwood tree native to southern Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay. The name Tarumã derives from the autochthonous Tupi-Guarani language group and it is also known by Azeitona do mato (forest olive), among many other regional names.[1]
