Tartus District

Tartus District (Arabic: منطقة طرطوس) is a district (mantiqah) of the Tartus Governorate in Syria. At the 2004 Census it had a population of 281,453.[1] The centre of the district is the city of Tartus.

Divisions

The district of Tartus is divided into seven sub-districts or Nāḥiyas (population according to 2004 official census):

  • Tartus nahiyah (ناحية طرطوس): population 162,980.[2]
  • Arwad nahiyah (ناحية أرواد): population 4,403.[3]
  • Al-Hamidiyah nahiyah (ناحية الحميدية): population 20,309.[4]
  • Khirbet al-Maazah nahiyah (ناحية خربة المعزة): population 22,897.[5]
  • Al-Sawda nahiyah (ناحية السودا): population 32,295.[6]
  • Al-Karimah nahiyah (ناحية الكريمة): population 17,271.[7]
  • Al-Safsafah nahiyah (ناحية صفصافة): population 23,416.[8]
