Tanza (formerly known as Santa Cruz de Malabon) is a 1st class municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 188,755 people[3] in a land area of 78.24 square kilometers.

Tanza has been awarded "Seal of Good Housekeeping" by the Department of Interior and Local Government in 2011.

History

Tanza is the place where Emilio Aguinaldo took oath as the first president of the revolutionary government of the Philippines. It is also the home town of Felipe G. Calderon, the man who drafted the first Philippine constitution.

Tanza is the second Local Government Unit in the province which banned the use of plastic bags and polystyrene. This ordinance took effect on January 1, 2012.

Religion

Majority of the people are Roman Catholics but there is a fast-growth of Christian churches throughout Tanza, including Iglesia Ni Cristo, Protestant, Baptist, Adventist, Jehovah's Witnesses, Dating Daan LDS Church.
