Tanya Barbara Magarita Woods was a fictional character in UK soap opera Family Affairs, played by Carol Starks from 2003 until 2005 several months before the end of the series.

Character Information

Tanya first arrived in Charnaham in 2003, at St David's hospital as the nurse who treated Jake Walker after his involvement in a car crash that killed Robert Davenport and Fern Farmer. Tanya later settled into the street with her gay best friend, Sean Steel. The two agreed to try for a baby.

Tanya and Sean tried to adopt Charlie, but that idea never materialiased when Charlie's mother Sarah came back into the picture.

In 2004, Tanya gave birth to a baby boy, Harry. Life as a happy family didn't last very long as Sean died in hospital after being stabbed by some youths in the early hours of New Year's Eve.

For the remainder of 2005, Tanya was involved in a love triangle with Dr. John Stokes and her neighbour Conrad Williams. John proposed to Tanya and they were married that September and left Charnham.

A few weeks later Tanya miscarried and subsequently left John. A Few weeks later, Tanya realised she loved Conrad and returned to Charnham on rainy night to let him know and the two shared a kiss. They subsequently left for Fiji.

For her portrayal of Tanya, Starks was nominated in the category of "Best Actress" at the 2005 British Soap Awards.[1]
