Tanya Huebner (born 25 August 1978) is an Australian swimmer. She was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in swimming in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and 4x100m Freestyle Relay events.
Personal
Huebner was born on 25 August[1] She is from Victoria.[2] She has a short stature due to achondroplasia. [3] She is a teacher. In July 2011, she took a leave of absence from her job in order to train full time for the Paralympics.[4][5]
Swimming
Huebner is an S6 classified swimmer.[1][6] She is a member of the Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club.[4][5] She started swimming when she was very young.[5]
In 2008, Huebner competed in Rock2Ramp.[7] That year, she also competed in the Club-to-Club swim from Edithvale Life Saving Club to Aspendale Life Saving Club.[8] In 2010, she woke up at 4:30am daily in order to train.[3][9] She competed in the 2010 International Paralympic Committee swimming world championships.[10] She took up a swimming scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport in July 2011.[4] She swum for Bayside at the 2011 Australian Open Championships.[11] She competed in the 2011 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in the 200 meters individual medley SM6 event, where she finished first with a time of 3:31:36.[6] In 2011, she also competed at the Can-Am Championships in California.[12] She was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in swimming in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly and 4x100m Freestyle Relay events.[1][13] The Games were her first.[4]
