Talbot is a railway station in the township of Talbot, Victoria, Australia. As of December 22 2013, V/Line passenger rail services resumed. Currently the station building and platform now used as a public transport facility, plant nursery and small railway museum. A goods shed and crane also remain at this station.
The extension of V/Line passenger services from Ballarat to Maryborough was announced in December 2008 as part of a $50 million project,[1] but the State Government had stated that Creswick and Clunes would be the only intermediate stops.[2][3]
As part of the upgrade works for passenger services the crossing loop and siding was abolished on 24 February 2010,[4][5] with the recent removal of crossing loops at Sulky and Tourello, the line between Ballarat and Maryborough can only have one train using it at a time.[6]
In 2011, the Liberal State Government announced they would be reopening the station to Maryborough services, with $2.5 million allocated to upgrade the station. The station was reopened on 22nd of December 2013 ahead of major regional rail track works during the summer. [7]
