Takestan (Persian: تاكستان, also Romanized as Tākestān and Tākistān; formerly, Seyādahan, Sīādehan, Sīahdehān, Siakh-Degen, and Siakhdekhan)[1] is a city in and the capital of Takestan County, in Qazvin Province, Iran. At the 2006 census its population was 73,625, in 18,685 families.[2]
Takestan has a railway station on the Teheran-Tabriz line. The name Takestan literally means place of vine-yards. Most people of Takestan is Tat and speak to Tati.[3]
Historical sites
- Pir Mausoleum: The Pir mausoleum, alternatively known as Pir-e Takestan and Imamzadeh Pir, is a small domed Seljuk building dating from the 11th century and has since been restored. Only little of the original ornamental decorations remains.
