The Taiwan Communist Party (Chinese: 台灣共產黨 or 臺灣共產黨) is a political party of the Republic of China (Taiwan) established legally on July 20, 2008 at Xinhua, Tainan County (now part of Tainan City).[2] The founder and chairperson of the party is Wang Lao-yang (王老養),[3] He had tried to found a communist party since 1994, but the promotion of communism in Taiwan was illegal until the Justices of the Constitutional Court of Judicial Yuan announced that prohibiting communism and separatism is unconstitutional on June 20, 2008.[4] Officially, the party has no subordinate relations with the Communist Party of China which is based in the People's Republic of China.[3]
