The Taipei Times is now one of only two daily English-language newspapers in the Republic of China (Taiwan), its competitor being the The China Post (since Taiwan News ceased to be printed in 2010). Established in 1999, the Taipei Times is published by the Liberty Times Group, which publishes the Chinese language newspaper the Liberty Times which has a pro-Taiwan independence editorial line.[1]
Along with such newspapers as The Guardian, it is a participant of Project Syndicate, established by George Soros.
