TVR HD is a high-definition version of the Romanian public broadcasting channel TVR. The channel broadcast Euro 2008 and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in high definition. The channel also broadcasts Formula 1 and one Champions League ( broadcasting rights held from 2009-10 season to the end of the 2011-12 season ) game on Tuesday and Wednesday in HD. A special conditional card and a compatible MPEG4/H.264 set top box is required to watch the signal by satellite as the channel is encrypted. Terrestrial broadcast is free-to-air, but not widely available in Romania.
