Launch

A month prior to the channels launch viewers would see on channel 17 a notice of a launch date and also a notice informing viewers that Fashion TV has moved to channel 66 as Fashion TV previously occupied channel 17 on SKY. Later this was replaced with previews of shows that would screen on TVNZ Heartland. TVNZ Heartland launched at 6PM on June 1, 2010 50 years to the day when TV broadcasting first started in New Zealand. To mark the occasion the very first show was From the Archives a show that looks back on classic New Zealand made TV shows from five decades. The first installment seen on June 1 was a look back at 1960s New Zealand made shows.
