TVMuse is a video directory and website aggregator that helps users identify online video content. The website contains a database of television programmes and films, while also offering a video search engine feature that connects viewers with the top destinations for online video (e.g., Hulu, Fancast, YouTube).[3] Over 30 million visitors use the services each month.[1] Before March 2013, the company was referred to as TV-Links.eu.[4]

Function

The site provides a detailed listing of TV shows and movies and aggregates content for these items. TVMuse does not host any content, and instead acts as a search index for some streaming sources and video websites available on the Internet. Paid services like Amazon Video-on-Demand, Netflix, and Hulu Plus are available as search results. In April 2013, TVMuse ceased to support user-submitted links and deleted such links retroactively, meaning that only paid services were included within the searchable database.

Another function of the site is that of a site guide or directory. TVMuse contains a comprehensive directory of video websites, with each listed website having an attached ranking. The site also acts as a social network, connecting users with similar interests and allowing user generated content on its pages.

As of July 2013 all the user-provided links have been removed[5] and only links to paid and subscription services remain.[6]

Despite the removal of user-provided links, and the preclusion of new ones being added, users are still sharing links by posting them in the comments section of the relevant episode guide. Link-included comments are being auto-labeled as spam by the site, but are still accessible by clicking "view" for each respective comment.
