TVB J2 (Chinese: 無綫電視J2) is a TV Channel specially established by Television Broadcasts Limited for the new and free digital TV network in Hong Kong. The channel was officially launched on June 30, 2008.

To watch this channel, a H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec is required, although viewers from Macau have free access if the user is using the public TV cable. It broadcasts 24 hours a day, with a variety of programmes targeted at teenage audiences.

Occasionally, it not only shows programmes in Cantonese, but also in other languages including Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Most of the shows are broadcast in bilingual audio channels with Chinese subtitles.

There is a website to review previous programmes shown in the channel. J2 is even registered as a Facebook member and has a YouTube Channel to take notice of teenagers.

The transmission of TVB J2 was upgraded from SDTV to HDTV video format on 2013-01-21 at 01:54 am.

Programmes

Teen dramas are the most watched programmes on TVB J2. The time slots in prime time are specialized for most popular dramas everyday, with ones from Korea (Mon-Fri), Taiwan (Mon-Fri, Sun), Japan (Fri-Sat) and USA (Sat-Sun).

Another popular genre of programmes for TVB J2 is Japanese anime. The channel broadcast a lot of animation which is hot in Japan. Most of them are aired late at night to take care of the noctivagant culture of teenagers in Hong Kong. Yet, TVB J2 confronts the challenge of anime fansubs from the Internet, thus driving TVB to procure the newest anime titles as quickly as possible.

  • Love Academy (愛情研究院)
A space for teenagers and stars to discuss different kinds of love matters and play love games. The hosts are Miki Yeung and Cyrus Chow.
  • Summer In Beijing (首都闖蕩)
A reality show that comprise three single girls and a gentleman. They will have a journey to discover the influence of 2008 Summer Olympics on Beijing, together with unique culture and livelihood of the city. The hosts are Ursule Wong, Joyce Wong, Grace Wong and Jason Chan.
According to the Year 2009 Market Promotion, TVB will produce new reality shows based on the format of this one.
