TIME broadband

TIME Broadband is a broadband service offered by TIME dotCom Berhad. This service a high-speed and reliable Internet connection utilising an IP network. A high-speed bandwidth is ideal for supporting most broadband applications such as voice, video streaming and other media applications mainly in Malaysia.

Launched in 28 August 2009, its predecessor called Netlynx,TIME Homenet and BizNet are all been streamlined under the name of TIME Broadband. Mainly, TIME Broadband are divided into two categories or segment which comprises Businesses and Residential. Each of the segments uses and have the same technology and that is ADSL which means Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, is one form of the Digital Subscriber Line technology, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional voice band modem can provide. It does this by utilizing frequencies that are not used by a voice telephone call and SDSL which means symmetric digital subscriber line and it runs over one pair of copper wires, with a maximum range of 10,000 feet (3,000 m). It cannot co-exist with a conventional voice service on the same pair as it takes over the entire bandwidth. However, for TIME Broadband SDSL, they only offered to Business or Corporate users only.

Overview

Basically, TIME broadband are divided into two packages which is Business package and consumer package. For business package,it comprises into two use of technology which is ADSL and SDSL. Mainly, SDSL is only offered to business customers.

Features

This internet service broadband is similar to any broadband features in Malaysia. Fortunately, there are differences than other service provider like streamyx from TMNet. Below is some of the TIME broadband features:[1]

  • 'Always on' connection to the Internet
  • Connectivity up to 10 Mbit/s
  • Up to 10 Mbit/s download speed for ADSL service
  • Up to 2 Mbit/s download and upload speed for SDSL service
  • Enhance the upload speed up to 2 Mbit/s for ADSL service with TIME dotCom support of ADSL2+ Annex M standard
  • Enhance the download speed by an additional 2 Mbit/s with TIME dotCom BOOST service (currently on free trial)
  • One flat rate charge for ADSL and SDSL

Similar to TIME Fibre Broadband,the BoD(Bandwidth on Demand) or Boostable features are highly praise for which subscribers can boost their download speed but for TIME Broadband, they only allows it up to 10 Mbit/s. However, this feature is good enough for broadband user whether in business or residential user in Malaysia.

Service Availability

There are much speculation on the service availability on this service as not all places are covered. Only certain places in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Pulau Pinang and Selangor are covered.[1]
