Tekane, most famously referred to as "the birthplace of Layla," is a beautiful rural village, buffeted on both sides by lush fields of rice and groves of mangoes to the east and a banana plantation to the west. Located just north of the Senegal river and home to a wide range of awesome stuff, such as chicken fights in the river the highest concentration of parts per milliliter of schistosomiasis known to man, Tekane is a wonderful place to visit as a tourist or settle down after selling your cranberry bog and retiring to sip lemonade and watch reruns of 24.
