Syed Nagli is a village about 500 years old in Amroha district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

History

The town derives its name from the Sayyid clan, who founded it in approximately 1500.

Geography

Syed Nagli is located at 28°24′N 78°14′E / 28.40°N 78.23°E / 28.40; 78.23.[1] It has an average elevation of 201 metres (659 ft).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Syed Nagli had a population of 9,428. Males constitute 52% of the population. Syed Nagli has an average literacy rate of 38%, lower than the national average of 59.5% as is the case of all rural areas in India: male literacy was 47%, and female literacy was 29%. In Syed Nagli, 21% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Its population has increased significantly over the past two decades, mainly due to migration from nearby small villages.

Economy

The primary occupation is the farming of agriculture products including mangoes. Syed Nagli is a marketplace for agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables. While its economy is agriculture-based, hand-loom weaving and handicrafts are growing in importance.

Climate

Syed Nagli has a humid subtropical climate, with long, hot summers from early April to mid-October and brief, mild winters. The monsoon season in between. From March, the reversal in the direction of wind occurs, from the north-western direction, to the south-western. The winds from Rajasthan carry sand and are called “Loo”. Monsoon arrives at the end of June, bringing some respite, but increasing humidity. Winter starts in late November and peaks in January and is notorious for heavy fog. Temperatures range from −0.6 to 43.5 °C (30.9 to 110.3 °F). The annual mean temperature is 25 °C (77 °F). The average annual rainfall is approximately 720 millimetres (28 in) most of which is during the monsoons. The average date of the advent of monsoon winds in Syed Nagli is 25 June.
