Sydney Walling

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sir Sydney Walling (12 July 1907 8 October 2009) was an Antiguan cricketer who played for Antigua and Barbuda during the 1930s and 1940s.

Despite playing for his national team he failed to ever make it onto the West Indies team. Several commentators commented on this saying that it was due to the fact he lived on a smaller island and that the island did not play first-class cricket at the time.

In 2006 Walling was honoured when a section of the roadway in the capital was renamed the “Sydney Walling Highway”.

Walling died at the age of 102 in Antigua on 8 October 2009.[1] Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer paid tribute to Walling after his death.[2]
