Swan 65 is a large, ketch or sloop rigged sailing yacht manufactured by Nautor’s Swan. The first 65-footers were delivered to their customers in 1971, and the production continued until 1989 with 41 hulls being built in total. The yacht was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and its main dimensions are length overall LOA 19,9 m, Length of waterline LWL 14,33 m Beam 4,98 m, and displacement of 31800 kg, of which 13900 kg is ballast. [1] The yacht became well known in 1974, when a ketch rigged Swan 65 by the name s/y Sayula II won the first ever Whitbread Round the World Race.[2]

In 1978's Whitbread Round the World Race a Swan 65 sloop called King's Legend finished in second place getting narrowly defeated by Conny van Rietschotens purpose built Flyer.[3][4] In the same year Clare Francis the first female skipper to compete in the race, finished fifth in her Swan 65 ADC Accutrac.[5]
