Svalbarðsstrandarhreppur, also named Svalbarðsströnd, is a municipality located in northern-central Iceland, in Norðurland eystra.
Its seat is in the village of Svalbarðseyri and, as of 2011, the population was of 400.[3]
History
Geography
Located on the western side of Eyjafjörður, Svalbarðsströnd lies in front of Akureyri. The main village, Svalbarðseyri, counts a population of 245. With an extension of 55 km² is one of the smallestmunicipalities of Iceland.
