Sutro, Nevada

Sutro, Nevada is a ghost town and an unincorporated community in Lyon County, Nevada, where is the Sutro Tunnel is located.

History

It was founded by Adolph Heinrich Joseph Sutro an immigrant of Prussia, Germany. He came to United States in 1850. When he was in San Francisco he heard news about a gold rush in Washoe County and left to explore the region around the Comstock Lode.[1]

He had the dream to built the Sutro Tunnel to link Sutro to Comstock Lode which was completed in 1881.[1]
