Susannah Darwin

Susannah Wedgewood Darwin (née Wedgwood 1765–1817) was the wife of Robert Darwin, and mother of Charles Darwin, and part of the Wedgwood pottery family. She was the daughter of Josiah and Sarah Wedgwood. She gave birth to Charles Darwin on February 12, 1809. In 1817 she started growing ill, with gastrointestinal symptoms that were probably a sign of either a severe ulcer or stomach cancer. She died on Thursday, 15 July 1817.
