Suryavamsham is a 1998 Telugu film directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao starring Venkatesh, Meena and Raadhika in the lead roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by S. A. Rajkumar.[1] The film is a remake of the Kollywood film Suryavamsam (1997). The film was remade into Bollywood as Sooryavansham starring Amitabh Bachan and Soundarya. This story is also remade in Kannada as Surya Vamsha (2000) with Vishnuvardhan and Isha Koppikar in lead roles.

Plot

Harischandra Prasad (Venkatesh) is one of the most respected, most educated and among the wealthiest men in his district. He is respected by one and all, however his only black mark is his son Bhanu Prasad (also Venkatesh) who is considered a dunce owing to his poor academic history. Bhanu once loved and adored Madhavi (Sanghavi) wants to marry her until she attempts suicide to prevent this union (as he was a dunce). To prevent any misunderstandings Bhanu declared that he was not interested in Madhavi and earned his father's wrath.

When Swapna (Meena) arrives for her brother's wedding to Bhanu's sister, she is moved by Bhanu's deep love story and falls in love with him. Swapna and Bhanu gets married and enrage both sets of their parents. However with hard work Bhanu Prasad gradually becomes one of the biggest businessmen in town and among its wealthiest citizens- making his father proud of him. When the enmity of Anand Raj threatens to create a rift, father and son solve it and the family is happily united.[2]
