Sundown (party)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sundown is an annual demoparty held in the coastal town of Budleigh Salterton, near Exeter in the United Kingdom.

About

Sundown is a relatively small, UK-oriented demoparty, aimed at fostering and expanding creative talents and programming skills in the demoscene.

2005

The first party was organised by Ruairi Fullam (known in the demoscene as "rc55") to see whether such an event was viable. After consulting members of the UK demoscene community, the hall was hired, and networking, audio systems and projection were arranged. The event was publicised mainly by word of mouth and demoscene Web sites and managed to attract around 45 visitors. It took place on 9–11 September 2005.

2006

A second event was held on 6–8 October 2006 at the same venue. A slightly larger number of people attended, including Mark Shuttleworth.

2007

Sundown returned this year from 7–9 September 2007. The winning production was "Route 1066" by the UKscene Allstars. "The Physical Manifest of Euphoria" by Scullar made the second place.

2008

Sundown returned in 2008 and was held on the weekend of 12–14 September 2008.

2009

Sundown 2009 was held between 11–13 September 2009.

2010

Sundown 2010 was held between 3–5 September 2010.

2011

Sundown was not able to be held this year, so it moved to Luton for "Sunrise", held at the Best Western Menzies Strathmore, in the conference suite. As rc55 was not available to organise this event, fellow Sundown organiser "dotwaffle" ran the event with the assistance of many Germans, Belgians and Dutch demosceners.

2012

Sundown returns to Budleigh Salterton, between 7–9 September 2012.

2013

Sundown 2013 was held between 6-8 September 2013.
